True Wealth

Introduction

The question that I hear asked more and more frequently is: What happened to the American Dream? America is supposed to be the land of opportunity, the land of milk and honey, but for increasingly more and more of us, the American Dream is fast slipping away. For the first time in the history of this great nation our standard of living is in decline. So, again the question is: What happened to the American Dream?

The short answer is we got caught up in the glitter of Madison Avenue Consumerism and we were sold a bill of goods that material possessions were the key to self esteem and happiness. We found out the hard way that materialism was actually a sure fire way to become an indentured servant who has lost control of his time and finances and who has little joy in his life because he is constantly stressed by the fact that his possessions own him rather than him owning them. How can you have joy if all your time and energy is spent worrying about how you are going to pay for things you have already consumed?

The problem is that while we weren’t looking the world changed and the U.S. found itself in a situation where it had a hard time competing with the lower labor costs of emerging countries like China and India and as a result our standard of living started to decline, slowly at first and now more rapidly, more undeniably. In this shifting economy it is becoming harder and harder for Americans to maintain their life styles. Even more worrisome is the illusion of wealth which is in reality a mountain of debt oppressing those who labor under its weight. Yet most Americans stubbornly deny the reality that if we stay our present course future generations of Americans will have a lower standard of living than those who preceded them and even more importantly, we will become increasingly stressed and unhappy as we fight an uphill battle against the winds of change. If we learn to embrace the changes which are upon us and adapt to them then we can protect our wealth and recapture our joy. To this end it’s time we wake up and come to grips with the reality that:

BALANCE, NOT MATERIALISM IS THE KEY TO HAPPINESS & WEALTH!

The pursuit of money is just one component of a balanced, happy, fulfilled, abundant life. A balanced life is one that focuses equal attention on: HEALTH – RELATIONSHIPS – CAREER – SPIRITUALITY&LEISURE TIME!

This book is about learning how to have money without the making of money being a source of unhappiness. Ironically, if we learn to live within our means, spend less than we make and save the difference we can be wealthy regardless of the changing geopolitical environment. We can learn how to systematically build wealth and protect it against unforeseen economic events. Even more importantly, we can gain control of our time and spend it on those things which truly make us happy as opposed to having to spend an inordinate amount of it working to pay our debts. People, not money make us happy! Being in control makes us happy! Having time to do what we love makes us happy. Giving makes us happy! The purpose of money is to provide us financial freedom so we can spend our time in pursuit of all those things which make us happy. Money is necessary, but it does not make us happy. It’s time we learned to put it in the proper perspective so we can find the joy we all deserve. This book will give you a step by step plan for how to be wealthier than you ever imagined while at the same time finding greater happiness than you ever thought possible. You owe it to yourself and to future generations to open your mind to the possibility that there is a better alternative than the one presented to us by the Madison Avenue Money Mongers.

Below is the Table of Contents for True Wealth and a one page summary of each of the four parts of the book. TRUE WEALTH is actually four books in one.

  • PART I: sets the stage for a shift in our thinking by forcing us to recognizing that “TRUE WEALTHIS MUCH MORE ABOUTBEING HAPPY THAN ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY WE HAVE!”
  • PART II: sets the stage for how and why the U.S. is going to have a catastrophic economic collapse and how we need to change our way of thinking in light of this inevitability!
  • PART III: Is about how to develop your wealth building strategy. A strategy where we all have to recognize that we have to depend on ourselves, not the corporations, the government or any social security net to provide for our financial well being!
  • PART IV: Is about specific strategies for how you can use Real Estate to grow your wealth, shelter your wealth from taxes and protect it in the event of an economic collapse!

I wrote this book because I strongly believe the U.S. is in for an economic collapse that will rival that of the 1929 crash. Then like now those who are caught off guard will suffer devastating financial loss, but those who are prepared will fair much better. I want to see as many of my fellow Americans as possible prepare for what I believe to be the inevitable! The good thing about the strategies which I put forward in this book is that they are designed to do no harm. Even if I am wrong and there is no economic collapse my strategy will contribute to Wealth Building. It will still prepare you to one day retire well off without having to worry weather or not Social Security will be there for you, or weather or not your pension is there. You will be self sufficient and you will have multiple sources of reoccurring revenue which will help insulate you against the Winds of Economic Change!
